At DNB Advisory we presently focus on three core lines of business that are perfectly aligned with our deep expertise and accomplishments as commercial banking professionals. These lines are Credit Underwriting Services, Advisory Services, and Training and Development Services.
Our Advisory engagements cover a wide range from strategic and succession planning within commercial banking groups to turning around or materially improving credit/lending teams, processes, and workflows. We are experts in creating high performance, profitable credit and lending teams. Our Credit Underwriting engagements are about doing all kinds of underwriting work for commercial banking teams when they need additional credit resources, need them cost effectively, and need them now. Lastly, our Training and Development engagements consist of highly customized solutions for our existing clients that focus on producing results, are highly practical, and address very specific and unique needs. More on what we do is below.
Credit Underwriting Services
When you are short on capacity, DNB Advisory LLC can step in quickly and effectively as a natural extension of your team. Just about every team member, except administrative support, is a highly proficient and experienced underwriter. We call this capability being an “Operator” (borrowed from the military) or a person who can perform from beginning to end at a high level of quality and consistency; from spreading any type of financial statement to financial modeling to asking relevant questions to drawing relevant conclusions and to getting a quality write-up completed quickly and effectively.
In addition to underwriting work, we can perform project based annual reviews, buy and sell side portfolio due diligence and prep, as well as other credit and underwriting project work. Please note that we DO NOT perform recurring loan or credit reviews. It is a significant conflict of interest to conduct underwriting work (including annual reviews and renewals) and recurring loan / credit reviews by the same or affiliated service providers and a company(ies) with same or similar ownership and management, even if they utilize different employees for different services. Another material conflict of interest is to conduct underwriting work and then switch to recurring loan/credit reviews with that service provider. Just ask your regulators. This is why we focus on the underwriting work, something we truly enjoy and are really good at, and let others focus on loan review engagements.
Credit Underwriting Services include:
- Short-term Underwriting Work
- Annual Reviews and Renewals
- Underwriting Team Evaluation
- Underwriting Team Benchmarking
- Buy/Sell Side Portfolio Reviews
- In-person and/or remote training sessions

Case Study: The Real Value of a 10% Improvement
What can a 10% improvement in production and operational efficiencies mean to a commercial credit team? How about 4-5 more deals underwritten in a business cycle and cost savings of $10M or more per team member? What’s more shocking is that this additional production turns into $588M to $735M in Net Interest Income at one commercial bank, before fee income and revenue from non-credit services. Your team can achieve it too.
